Voice as common ground
With Karolina
A dive into harmonies For most of the human history singing together was integrated into our lives, was part of celebrations, work and a way of storytelling. It only progressively stopped along with industrialisation, which is only 0.1% of human existence. The invitation is to get back to the roots in a shared, embodied, deep and playful space. **The sessions will focus on working with old, polyphonic, folk songs from Eastern European and Georgian traditions alongside methods derived from Collaborative Vocal Improvisation, and often finishing with co-created vocal journeys. It’s a dive into harmonies and what lies beyond our understanding.** This work will develop listening, harmony and musical intuition skills along the felt sense of bonding, co-regulation and dissolution-of-separateness. Voice is ultimately connected to self and through its vulnerability voice work can become a space to practice flow, engagement and taking space. Some technical and embodied elements of working with the voice and the instrument (body) will be introduced, primarily this work focuses on the connection with own’s voice, with the common soundscape, each other and the world. So whether you’re drawn to the experience by missing your 30k old ancestor lifestyle, desire for connection, expanding your musicianship or simply the ‘why not’, you’re so welcome.

About the artist
Karolina worked with voice since childhood, starting in music school and continuing through choirs, theatre training, and traditional singing projects. Her main focus has been polyphonic singing, especially folk and traditional songs from Eastern Europe and Georgia. She trained with tradition-bearers, theatre vocal practitioners and facilitators of healing spaces, and she is a certified voice coach in the Modern Vocal Training method. Alongside this, she works with practical tools for group vocal improvisation and listening-based group work. Karolina has led choirs, hosts workshops in several countries, and co-created performances that merge music and theatre.
