Upcycling II – Project & Identity in Textiles

Upcycling II is a project-based course for participants who want to deepen their textile practice. Building on basic upcycling techniques, each participant develops a personal project: a single garment or a small set of pieces with a clear concept and identity. The course focuses on design thinking, storytelling through clothing, and refining technical skills such as embroidery, painting, bleaching, and structural garment alteration. Participants are guided through the full creative process, from idea and material selection to execution and finishing. This workshop emphasizes coherence, decision-making, and developing a personal visual language, while maintaining a supportive and experimental environment. Suitable for participants with some prior experience in upcycling, textiles, or related creative practices.

- What should I bring?
- Participants should bring garments for a project and basic sewing or textile knowledge. Prior experience with upcycling or textiles is recommended, but not mandatory.
About the artist
Ika Abigayll is a multidisciplinary artist and designer working with textiles, upcycling, and storytelling. Her practice combines embroidery, painting, bleaching, and garment alteration to explore identity and social narratives. She teaches process-based workshops focused on sustainability, experimentation, and developing a personal visual language.
