The Artist’s Way Reimagined: Creative Recovery in the 21st Century (MAY)

The Artists Way, Julia Cameron’s seminal book on the subject of creativity is an invaluable guide to living the artistic life. It is also, in many ways, outdated. So many things have changed for artists and for what it means to live creatively since Cameron first wrote the book In 1992. Using the book as a foundation (as well as other texts), each week, in a supportive and caring group setting, we will engage in discussion and inspiring creative exercises to help us nurture and cultivate our artistic selves. This course is ideal for people wanting to overcome creative blocks, reinvigorate their artistic practice or rediscover their creative selves. The course will take place over 6 weeks, no prior knowledge or ownership of the book is necessary, print outs and basic materials will be provided.

- Anyone and everyone. The book is especially effective for people who are experiencing creative blocks, have fallen out of artistic practice or who perhaps don’t consider themselves artists but have creative desires. It’s a book geared toward overcoming blocks and rediscovering your inner artist.
- What should I bring?
- No prior knowledge of the book is needed or ownership of the book. I will provide printed hand outs or PDF’s emailed to participants.
About the artist
I have been an educator in the arts for over ten years, facilitating workshops and projects across a wide range of artistic contexts. I’ve worked with all kinds of participants in settings as varied as prisons, universities, community centres, schools, psychiatric units, festivals, and forests. I am a graduate of the Guildhall School’s influential Leadership programme where I was trained by some of the UK’s leading arts educators, giving me the tools to help groups connect, collaborate, and create meaningful work together. With a strong foundation in multiple art forms, my passion and expertise lie in facilitating conversation and collaboration between artists of different disciplines.

Mid range: You have a less stable financial situation and are more selective about where you spend your money. Higher end: You experience relative financial stability.
