Learning Somatics of Piano (self-hypnosis, independence of limbs, towards incorporating dreamwork)
With Ju Ray’m
Learn about the somatics of piano, practical exercices to achieve independence of limbs, observation of imagination’s streams. I’m developing a method based on my experience as a musician and body practitioner (performer, therapist, dreamwork enthusiast). The technique uses self-hypnosis to allow us to get comfortable and access a musical flow. the left hand repeats a pattern and induces the hypnosis, while the right one expresses and narrates more consciously. breakthroughs are accessed through repetition and group support. We will go over strategies to play with fluidity in full body activation - whether you already know how to play or not - and hang out with the piano to try basic rhythms and harmonies.

About the artist
Ju’s practice takes shape in collaborative and site specific processes. It includes works as a musician, performer and body therapist. Their latest work Nuclear Unclear reflects a daily that oscillates between haunted past and precognized futures. The instruments - voice-body, synthesizer and electronics - use alternative tuning systems and odd pulses to improvise on arranged pieces and songs.

Sliding scale
We use a sliding scale to make courses as affordable as possible. Here’s how to use it: Lower end: You don’t have a stable income. Mid range: You have a less stable financial situation and are more selective about where you spend your money. Higher end: You experience relative financial stability. Solidarity spot: You’re experiencing financial precarity and wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to come to a workshop.
